Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Always Listen is a Chrome extension that transcribes your microphone to text after you turn it on. This page explains what it handles and where that data goes.

1. What the extension handles

2. Where your data is stored

Settings and saved text are stored in your browser with chrome.storage.local. They are not synced and are never sent to us. There is no Always Listen account, analytics, advertising or server.

3. Speech recognition by Google

Always Listen uses Chrome's built-in Web Speech API. While listening is on, Chrome sends your microphone audio to Google, which returns the text. Google's handling of that audio is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. Always Listen does not add any other transcription service. If you do not want audio to leave your computer, leave the switch off.

4. Browser permissions

The extension does not request access to websites, does not read page content and does not load code from the internet.

5. Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent or share your audio or text. It is not used for advertising, profiling or credit decisions.

6. Your control

7. Children

Always Listen is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Changes to this policy

If the way the extension handles data changes, we will update this page and the date above before the new version is released.
